Lumina — Lighting · Upcycling

An academic lighting project inspired by the sun, moon and stars. Reflective surfaces, glass and an upcycled spherical form explore how light can bring a sense of wonder into a personal space.

01 / Context & problem

A small personal cosmos

The concept draws on the imagery of the sky as a ceremonial platter, with the sun, moon and stars reinterpreted through light.

Lumina — the celestial light.

02 / Exploration & process

Working with reflection

A central light source, mirrored surfaces and carefully placed openings create different patterns and beams. The project explores the relationship between a physical object, atmosphere and personal space.

Core concept and development of the spherical form.
Making the light: digital studies, workshop assembly and reflection tests.

03 / Outcome & details

The proposal, resolved.

Mirrored surfaces, circular glass elements and a spherical body turn a light source into a small changing atmosphere.

Photographic studies of the finished light and its reflections.
Exploded components, elevations and construction details.
Lumina / Project film

04 / Project perspective

What the work explores
