A pedestrian-centred transport and commercial hub proposed for Bandra, Mumbai. A public street runs through the building, connecting modes of travel with places to pause, work and encounter nature.
01 / Context & problem
A transport hub experienced on foot.
Mumbai’s growing transport network creates complex transfers between rail, road and bus travel. Aura turns that necessary movement into a public sequence, placing a pedestrian street between the transport and commercial blocks.
02 / Form & climate
Climate analysis bends the building around public life.
The massing develops from a shaded central court, a raised southern edge and openings towards softer northern light. Roof gardens, water, landscape and photovoltaics become working environmental layers rather than additions to a finished form.
03 / Section & layers
One landscape, several systems.
The exploded drawing separates public ground, circulation, programme and roof. The long section shows the stepped structure and the relationship between the transit spaces, commercial floors and the landscape that continues through them.
04 / Outcome & experience
Movement becomes a sequence of pauses.
Gardens, courtyards and overlooking terraces give travellers places to wait outside the pressure of the interchange. The pedestrian street remains the project’s binding element, connecting transport with work, retail and landscape.
05 / Project perspective
Infrastructure as public space.
Aura is an academic proposal for Bandra that asks a transport interchange to support everyday comfort, social contact and access to nature as well as efficient movement.
